EZE-RV Guttter to Stop window leaks

Post by rnrvmd »

I have a 1974 F30 SeaRaider. This year is my first full season and we are working out some quirks. One issue was leaky salon and v berth windows as well as water leaking around the Bimini cover.
The previous owner did a wonderful job rebuilding the boat but from the amount of caulking around the windows, I am keenly aware of his furtive efforts to stop the leaks.

As I studied the problem, it occurred to me that the design around the windows, though beautiful, was slightly flawed.
I noticed that the overhang over the side and forward windows did not end but instead sloped back toward the windows and the rain was not dripping off the overhang, but was instead flowing backward, dripping onto the windows and leaking into the cabin. After every rain, everything was soaked.

Enter EZE-RV gutter from Campingworld.com. White, flexible rubber gutters that attach above the windows with attached 3m adhesive.
Now when it rains, the water is diverted away from the windows onto the hull and back into the lake. Best of all, the cabin and stern remain bone dry.

Just wanted to share this with everyone who may be suffering from the same dilemma.
Thanks to everyone on the forum and especially Bob at Beacon Marine for all your help. How lucky we are to be Trojan Boat owners.

On my to-do list..... My windows don't leak, but when the water runs off my salon roof, it leaves, over time, white streaks from the gelcoat. Looking forward to seeing those install pics.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

I'm going to try this over my front window. I completely removed and rebedded the window with butyl tape a few years ago but I still have a few small leaks. Maybe this will help. For $27 it's worth a try.

Genius, this is definitely going to get slapped on my boat as well for the price to add 1 extra layer of defense is worth it.

Let me know if it works. We had a long hard day of rain in Vermont and the boat was completely dry inside. I did attach a short section ( sorry no picture) along the window line at the end of cabin pitching forward to catch the water dripping from the hull onto the wheelhouse deck. Worked great. Finally a dry boat.

Hurricane Harvey has just shown me that my window seals are as waterproof as a teabag.
I will certainly be purchasing this product.
Thanks for sharing your innovative solution.
