Zinc Anodes

I am replacing my old swim deck brackets with stainless steel brackets. I wonder if I should add anodes to these, or if they do not need it because they are stainless steel.

Answer your own question by taking a look at a galvanic series chart. Where is stainless in relation to your would-be anode? You have three choices for anode material, the selection of which depends on where your boat spends most of its time.

Mine are not protected separately, they are bonded to the other anodes.

When you thru bolt the S/S brackets, on the inside run a bonding wire from each bracket to your bonding system and your current anodes should protect the brackets.

comodave, thanks for your reply. I need to dig a little deeper and learn more about the bonding system, if any on my boat. Running the wire from bolt to bolt on the inside sounds like a great idea.
