My f30 (1977 clean machine ) with 351 fords never saw 30 knots . with a very clean bottm I could cruse at 21 knots . Top speed maybe 26 knots or so . boat was very sesative to growth on shafts and rudders and of course props. did you sea trail the boat ?

As far as the door yes it can be done if you know what your doing . a frend is doing his F36 . But that some thing I would never try myself

My F30 with fuel injected 330hp 350's will hit 30 flat out lightly loaded and trimed (only did that 1 time)......I max cruise at 18-20 at 3100, again, lightly loaded...........this year with fuel costs what they are, I will be crusing much slower, more like 8 knots at hull speed.............John

hi and thanks for the replys i have not bought the boat i saw it from the outside and talked to the owner he claimed 34 mph this seamed high
then i went to look at the boat the inside is gone there is no deck left even the bulkhead/back wall with the door is gone i would say every piece of ply wood in the boat is gone or rotten i dont think it would be worth the effort or money what would it be worth fixed up
thanks

I have a 1978 Trojan performance spec sheet. It shows the following

F-30 w 305s, at 4000 RPM it says you'll do 28.7 MPH. At that point they will be drinking 25.5 GPH of fuel.

At 3000 RPM, it says 13.9 MPH and 13.8 GPH in Fuel

At 2500 RPM, 9.2 MPH and 9.7 GPH of fuel.

It does not list what wheels, tranny ratios or anything else.

Hope that helps.

1972 Sea Raider

I have 318's in my 30 foot Sea Raider, top speed I have managed to get is 33.5 mph (on GPS). Perfect conditions no wind, flat lake but fully loaded, gas tanks full and while on a two week vacation so the boat was loaded with weight.

hello all

I have a 30' 1974 sea raider that I repowered with 5.7mpi's 330hp w/hurth trans.
with 3 persons and full fuel 160gal I have at WOT 5000rpm
hit 41kts on calm sea trimmed out (GPS reading)
I fish offshore gulf of mexico and cruze at 26kts at 3600rpm
I replaced all tankage with alum. tanks and replaced the intire deck with lighter but stronger composit stringers which reduced my gross weight by about 1500lbs
