Swim Deck Project

I recently completed my swim deck project and wanted to share a few pics. I made a jig from 3/4" plywood to shape the deck to the curve of my transom. Then I clamped the 3/4"x2" red oak strips in place dry to number and mark the center line and cut outs. Then I took it apart and made the cuts for the drain cut outs but left the length to run wild.

Then I glued, clamped and screwed each piece using Tightbond Waterproof wood glue and stainless steel screws. I sealed the bottom side with fiber glass resin because the bottom will be hard to maintain. The top is planed, routed, sanded, stained and sealed with marine grade spar varnish. I have new stainless steel brackets and need to schedule the shop at the marina to haul the boat out so I can install.

Thanks Jimmy, I hope it last too. I have a covered slip so it will not be exposed to the sun except when we are out using the boat and I plan to watch it pretty close and re-apply at least once a year.

Thanks Oil&Water I think it turned out good. I'm working on the wood transom ladder and will add it this weekend. Then I'll start the back wall of the cabin, door, window trim and other wood items.

I have a question.. was there a swim platform before you installed this? So what I'm asking was the hardware installed already. I'm looking to install a swim platform on mine but need to completely install from scratch.
