F36 Tri fly 1977 have to hold key in start position to keep port motor running

I have to do this from main cabin and fly bridge.

95% chance its the ballast resistor .

Thx where would i find the location of this on my boat is there one for flybridge and one for main cabin. Thx again

The ballast resistor is on the engine, typically near the ignition control box.

Thx sure enough 100% right thanks...... fixed no problems fires up every time better then ever

Wow, just saw this post re: starting. I have an old Silverton I'm selling with 318's that has that same issue. Hadn't found the problem, so hoping this is it. Incidentally, reason for selling, I've purchased a 1972 F36 for my new boat. Have loved this model since it came out, took this long to get one, I'm excited. Thanks for the tip. Dave Foote
