Hurricane Michael

Post by horhay1946 »

As many of you know an almost Cat 5 hurricane struck the panhandle of Florida on Wednesday. Out Tricabin, Trivia Pursuit was moored at a marina about 30 miles from where the eye of the hurricane came in (Mexico Beach). Trivia Pursuit is currently sitting on a mud band and did sustain some damage. The is some damage on the forward port side at the hull deck joint. One side panel of the windshield is damaged and some of the sanctions are broken and missing. These are some of the pictures and I have provided a link to additional pictures showing the marina and the surrounding area. Https//:www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0K5nhQSTcxDR5 The good news is our house was spared with only some minor shingle damage and the fence is down.

My 10 Meter survived Cat 5 Hurricane Andrew in Miami (previous owner) 1992

Survived the actual eyewall of Cat 4 Hurricane Charley 2004 - damage limited to radar arch, anchor locker lid and numerous cosmetic "chips"

Survived Cat 2 Hurricane Irma 2017

Dealing with insurance claims can be daunting

Everything can be replaced - hopefully the repair cost will not exceed your policy limits or boat value.

BEST OF LUCK !

So sorry to see all this, there are no words for it. This is the place we went almost every winter for the last 18 years or so and we are very familiar with all of the areas there, mainly PCB. Mexico beach, unbelievable.Good luck to you George, our hope is that it turns around somehow.Be safe.

Here are the final pictures of Trivia Pursuit. She was salvaged and moved to a yard where she will be crushed. I removed everything that was not bolted down yesterday. If you look carefully at the pictures you will see that all the under water tackle is bent and therefore makes the boat not repairable at an economic cost. I will starting looking for a replacement in the coming months but in the meantime I have several other projects to complete.
