Ran all of the new fuel lines. And just about ready for final install of fuel tanks. Need some recommendations on how to plumb a generator that i might be getting my hands on. 6.5kw kohler cz. Do i plumb before or after the fuel filters? If its after will it steal pressure from the engine?

My generator has a separate pickup from the tank. Not familiar enough with your setup to make a recommendation, but consider how little fuel the genny uses while running. 1.3 gal/hr leaps into my head for a similar size generator. Probably an inconsequential amount. Depends on how oversized your propulsion engine lines are. You can probably look up fuel consumption rates on ye olde internet.

And you'll want read the ABYC fuel system standard. Note that my boat has a solenoid that shuts off fuel except when genny is operating.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

The right way is for the generator to have its own fuel pick up , lines and filter . Normal practice is to have the pick up higher for the gen set so you can't run the tank dry. If you use the same pick you can run into issues . A slightly leaking check valve in the fuel pump can cause the other engine (main or gen) to suck air and run dry . And the could compete for fuel . With that said I have seen it done with no issues and seen issues because it was done . Good chance one or more of your tanks has a place for a extra pick up .

If you must share the pick up put a shut of on both lines

I would add a T and shut off to both lines. Speaking of i need to order my inline shut off valves for the new fuel lines. Glad you reminded me.

Just purchased the Simrad Go12xse. With total scan, and 4g radar. I am extremely excited about this. Does anyone else have experience with the go series by Simrad?

I don't have go series, but do have a Simrad NSS Evo 2 MFD with 4G radar and lots of other Simrad and B&G gear. I have done quite a bit of integration and troubleshooting getting it all working the way I want, along with many calls to Simrad's tech support.

Thanks!! Would love to figure out the engine monitoring features as well. Through the nema2000 system. If you have any information on this please send my way.

I have a Noland Engineering RS11 interface that I will be using for RPM, oil pressure, coolant temperature and exhaust temperature. It hooks up to the tach and gauges, and sends NMEA2000 to the chart plotter. For exhaust temperature, I bought Blue Sea 1821 senders on sale from Defender.

The nolan rs11 works off the existing analog sender and guages?

Yes, you connect it to the gauges and use a USB cable and PC to configure. I had to buy sensors for exhaust temperature because I didn't have them before. The cost of Balmor or Aqualarm exhaust temperature alarms is not that much less than the RS11.

We use products from Yacht Devices. They are easy to hook up and they make a wide range of not only sensors, but control products for NMEA2000.
