Simulated Teak

Post by Jimmy »

Anchor pulpit teak inlay has been significantly sanded down for re-finish many times. To the point is is about 1/4" below the fiberglass housing. I love original teak, but hate having to re-finish it every few years. Thinking about covering it with the simulated Teaks I have been looking at. To cover this area, I would need to rout out the old Teak, then build back up with fiberglass, then lay the simulated teak. Anyone else used this? How well does it hold up? Being on the pulpit, Id say little foot traffic, and only the hook chain would be on it. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Looks great! Appears you did fill in where the original Teak was with Fiberglass, then put simulated over that. And bonus... i am also considering replacing my Good windlass with a chain/Rode combo. I have currently a small section of chain and the rest Rode. Id like to have at least 10-15 feet of chain from hook back. Thats probably next winters project then. Yours looks great.
