Everyone's favorite subject...VACUFLUSH!

Post by zedtwentyate »

Hey Trojan Friends -

First, let me start by saying, no I do not want to change/switch from a vacuflush system! I love my vacuflush.

I have an old Sealand 806 model in my 1989 Mid Cabin. It's given me problems over the years with leaking (think bodily fluids on the floor) and with an inability to keep water in the bowl. I assumed it was a seal issue. I bought a new seal and the issues persisted. The long and short of it is that I have hairline cracks in the bowl as well as a simply worn our base for the toilet. I tried to fix it and ended up making it worse. Rather than chasing parts in order to repair it, i opted to replace the toilet.

Here's what I learned. You can only buy vacuflush straight from the distributor. Apparently they can't be sold online.

I called AquaStar Marine (formerly Northeast Marine Sanitation) and they sold me the 5006 model, which I couldn't find on Dometic's site. This is apparently a direct replacement for the 806. It ran $600 shipped and it arrived the NEXT DAY. No shipping charge.

Can't wait to get this thing in. I can use my existing vacuum generator and even the flange. Right now I'm pretty excited I don't have a 10 meter express. The first thing they asked was if this was for a Trojan!

I just wanted to share because I couldn't find the answer to my question online. Can I just bolt on a new vacuflush toilet to an existing system. They answer is yes.

Yep, I did the exact same thing last summer. My bowl had hairline cracks in the bowl but never leaked. I didn’t want to press it too far so I went with new as well. I rebuilt the bowl once before along with the duckbills, tank switch, pump and hoses (now 10 years old). I replaced the duckbills again when I installed the new bowl so I should be set for at least a few years with no maintenance.

A non working head is really the worst case scenario and makes the boat almost unusable.

Hi All,

My toilet had hairline cracks as well. But this is in one of the Carver built Trojan's. The marina ordered a replacement, took delivery and then found upon installation that it was bigger than the original. They installed it anyway and I accepted the result. Works fine. You sit up a little higher.... :) and the shower shield now doesn't have room to close. Guess I can live with both situations.

Cheers

Great info.

Mine is still going strong, but it sounds like this may be an age related thing at some point, so it may only be a matter of time.

My guess would be over tightening of the the collar where the toilet china meets the base and the constant movement and flex that the boat provide for these toilets...
