Recreational boating has been restricted by the governor of the People's Republic of Maryland:

In many states like Fla you can go boating but must stay 50 feet from other boats . Law is not real clear in Va . but Listing to the Gov . I believe you can still Boat . Limits of groups of 10 or less , stay 6 foot apart on land or water . Beach's closed except for fishing and exercise .

Our boat is in Maryland and our marina has closed except for emergency access. That is less of an issue than Maryland requiring us to quarantine for 14 days if we enter the state. Guess all our spring boat projects have become summer ones...

I thought it was quite interesting that Maryland's governor singled out recreational boating only, out of all possible activities in his instructions. Virginia's governor told people it was against his stay at home order to visit another household but OK to play golf. Very strange!

I believe the way the regulation reads, if you are fishing from a licensed boat, for food for your family, your are OK. Marinas are considered essential business's to the marine industry and are exempt. Don't know what the regs are if your slip happens to be in Balto Harbor. Don't go into Charm City without bullet proof vest and substantial arms. (just some sarcasm)

Revised guidance now says subsistence hunting and fishing OK. Drag a line and you're good to go.

My firearms are undocumented, so my democratic super majority state legislature loves them.....

I've so far only moved to get water. Not on at my home base yet. When I do, I have my poles out. Waiting to tell the popo I'm out subsistence fishing. Burden of proof is on them. Big government over reach can bite me.

Way too many rights are being ceded needlessly. The Constitution applies all the time. Pandemic, or no pandemic.

Hopefully Maryland will be relaxing the ban on boating in the next week:

If only. Let common sense social distancing and masks prevail.

I live on my boat by myself these days. If I leave the slip by myself in my own boat and don't fish, I'm a criminal. If I take a buddy fishing, we're not violating the law, even though now we are exposing each other. Go figure. Pretty sure very few people only fish so that they can eat. Oh, and someone tell me why I can go buy clothing and a blender at Walmart right now, because they also sell bleach, but JC Penny's must remain closed because they don't (asked rhetorically only, because this is a boating forum....).

And apparently stepping up enforcement during rockfish trophy season. Since subsistence fishing is allowed, I don't get the additional enforcement.

In a year or two, ask me again why I decided to slip our boat in the ONLY state that is not letting us use it!

Thanks Prowlersfish. We don't call it the People's Republic of Maryland for nothing!
