Fuel consumption 11 Meter Express Diesels

Post by peakay »

Hi there,

Have found a nice 11 meter express with twin 671s (turbos) for sale. What should the expectation be for fuel consumption at various speeds? Engines have 1250 hours and new turbos. Still a lot of life left??

Thank you.

on my 10 meter express I nearly (but not quite) doubled my mileage and range with Yanmar 6LP intercooled turbodiesels

Additionally my best/most efficient on-plane cruise speed - verified by FLOSCAN data went from 12-14 knots to 18-22 knots at 1.2-1.35 NMPG

If you prefer statute miles and speeds do the conversion

at displacement speed, you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

She always starts on the first click, and does not smoke or stink

trouble free since her 2005 refit

Engine hours between overhauls can vary on the 671ti/tib depending on how they are run and taken care of . 1500-2500 hours seems to be the norm , but seen some do more . If they have been overhauled the parts used are a big factor OEM always the best for long life . A good engine survey will tell you a lot , This should be done by a real Detroit diesel guy that knows the 2 stroke well . Won't be cheap but its very involved . And will give a clear idea of like left .

I would guess .9 mpg at cruse .
