Are both batteries used when starting engines on F-32? After starting is one battery a house battery and the other for the engines or does each engine have its own battery after starting? I read somewhere that the ignition key and solenoid in the magic black box joins both batteries for starting but returns to normal after key is in run position.

Can't really shed any info on your request. However I have 3 batteries and they are all linked together. Starboard engine is hooked up to battery one and port is hooked up to engine two. I do not have a battery switch and my battery charger is hooked up to all three.

I had a 78 and each engine had it's own battery. The black box had a solenoid inside that joined both batteries together when you held the toggle switch on the lower helm dash. The switch was only on the lower helm if I remember right.

Each engine has it's own battery after starting, we put an extra battery on the port side and used it for house because of how the boats loads are factory wired and saved the starboard for starting if needed.

They automatically combine when cranking . The switch is just in case the battery on the engine your cranking is too low to activate the system . Once started (and not holding the switch) they are full independent .

The one we had was strictly manual, only worked with the switch, perhaps it had been altered though. It did have an automatic generator start though, if you tried to draw any 120 vac power the generator would start on it's own to provide power. I disabled that quite quickly.
