the good news is that with the transom seat removed, there is excellent access to all the rudder/steering gear.

The unique design of the International series puts the rudders entrance into the boat above the water line.

Each rudder is supported by a plastic bushing, available from Beacon Marine-the sponsor of this site

On my 10 meter there was a sharp metal burr on the bottom of the rudder base.

Over the years this burr damaged the top surface of the plastic bushing, and then into the fiberglass.

I have since repaired the fiberglass, and replaced both bushings

perhaps I can find the photos.

Additionally, there is a bolt that holds the steering ram on the fixed side.

For some reason that bolt on my boat was not stainless steel

Approaching the dock sme5 years ago, that bolt finally failed and we docked with engines only.

Otherwise, I suppose I should have first asked, is the CLICKING coming from the helm or aft in the rudder area?

Is it a Ratchet type feel at the helm ? Or is it one time when you turn ? The ratchet sound/feel is normal .
