I love the teak. but I am trying to minimize maintenance. We can run up to 175 trips in a summer and I do not not have the time to do maintenance costs. We are out every day, and switching to starboard will save a bunch of time and hassle. The teak gets beat on by fishing rods etc and just has too much upkeep. Same as why I am adding the hardtop, eliminate a future maintenance item

I believe my teak was already replaced. Does anyone know what the thickness of the teak gunnel cap is supposed to be? Thanks

No offensive, but I thing Star-Board would look cheap and lower your re-sale value!

What happens to all plastics that spend there day in the sun. Be careful. I did my teak once down to bare wood 6 years ago, finished with 3 coats of cetol, and now a new coat each spring. Less than a half days maintenance including railings, ladder and swim platform.

I don't think that would be an issue. There were Star Board flybridge ladder treads on our boat for 10 years. The looked brand new when we took them off. We only took them off to replace them with soft Marine Mat.

We personally hate any wood or teak on the boat and started removing or painting every piece of it as soon as we bought the boat.

Well as you can see my teak is 45 years old. To each his own.

With 800 hrs a year of charter use. the teak does not hold up. I have stripped, many cetol coats. and the abuse from fishing rods whacking on it kills it. Resale, no concern. This boat is not going anywhere, I do not plan on replacing it. It fits the needs for my business. What I do want to so is eliminate maintenance. Starboard has no issues long term. Biggest question is does anyone know what the thickness is on 10 meter teak gunnel caps. Mone was replaced by the previous owner and looks thicker than normal
