U-boat 13 Meter

Post by Lumpy »

I'm looking at a 1985 13 Meter International that had fully sunk. It was raised within 36 hours. It would be a complete restoration project but my concern is with the hull, Was it compromised? I believe it's a cored hull so what level of water intrusion could have happened. Just looking for some thoughts on how I can tell if I should just walk away.

Prowersfish is correct. If the hull was not damaged then there is no way for the water to get into the coring.

Thanks for the info, I was hoping/thinking that was going to be said. On another topic, this 1985 doesn't have the walk through transom. What year did that start?

A competent surveyor with the right tools and a moisture meter should evaluate this vessel before you take the next step

One would assume the cost to restore to be very significant, assuming all soft goods, wiring, instruments and machinery

The problem will be getting her insured for your investment

Here's an 11 Meter that would likely be a better candidate:

An Express. I'm digging deeper and will post an update. If I move forward and make a deal I'll post pics. I love 10, 11 & 13-meter Internationals and I'm very partial to the express models. My favorite being the 13m. I've owned the 10m and loved it. The problem with finding one out of state (I'm in MD) is the transport cost. Could have picked up an 11m in FL for $1,200, in decent shape but the transport cost to MD was over 11K.
