Starboard ignition switches start port motor

Post by zseevers »

I have a 1979 Trojan 32. When I try to start the starboard motor the port starter engages. It has been intermittent for a couple of years but now consistently misbehaves. I am planning on replacing all ignition switches but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions. Motors are Chrysler 360s ARCO starters. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the diode for the emergency/parallel start system is going bad.

You can buy the manual for your boat from Beacon. Highly recommended.

I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!
