I know about the portlights vs. the hatches.

The point was that you can tell a mid cabin based hull vs an express ruiser (not mid cabin) style immediately by looking at the portlights.

2 = mid-cabin hull
3 = non-midcabin hull

From the rear the gunnels are higher and there is a cutout at the top.

Anyhow, sorry to hijack the thread.

Gutav is flying by and we're getting rain/wind bands from him at this moment. Not a great labor day weekend by any means.

Hi Wes,

I also had a water leak on my forward hatch.

I peeled the old rubber seal and filled it with silicone and added a ½ inch gasket.

We have had some rain in the last couple of weeks and no leaks. Hopefully, I fixed the water leak. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks Roly,

That's what I was thinking of trying. Isn't it fun solving the problem we find on boats?

I have the mid cabin model and the two side hatches are fixed. The center forward one opens.

I had one of the latch handles snap out of the lexan on ours. (Guess I pulled too hard ) It seems to seal fine with three.

I may call and see if I can get replacement hatches for all three. The two side lights have a small amount of weepages. At a minimum I will pull and rebed.

I've spent a few hundred bucks on gaskets and still and fighting leaks. I'm about to cut them out and install new hatches in a couple months.

The factory original hatches on my 10 meter express do not leak.

I replaced the gaskets on one about 5 years ago and the other last year.

Aside from the discoloration, the problem is they have numerous surface cracks and crazing in the hatch lids to the point where I do not "trust" them.

Don't know if they will go another 3 months, or another 35 years.
