1970 Trojan 50' Shepherd FBMY

Post by NickT »

I am considering purchasing a 1970 Trojan 50' Shepherd FBMY. However, I am confused as to the original construction.

The Trojan literture I can find for a 50' boat says the hull was constructed from white oak ribs, an inner hull of marine grade plywood, and an outer hull of Philippine mahogany ... and that's it.

The broker is telling me that the mahogany was then covered with fiberglass by Trojan at the factory.

The boat I am looking at does have a fiberglass-coated hull, but I don't know who installed it.

Does anyone know the correct answer???

Thanks for your help.

Nick
