1974 F26 Prop Question
Can anyone tell me what is the correct size prop size for a 1974 F26 with a 318 engine?
Prop Pitch
My '78 F-26 HT came equiped with a 305 cid 228hp engine, 1:1 transmission and a 14 x 9 cupped prop. I have since added many options that have increased the weight of the boat and also upped the engine displacement to 350 cid 300hp with a 13 x 10 NiBrAl cupped prop. I run 4200 RPM @ WOT and a speed of 28 mph in fresh water. It cruises best about 3500 RPM @ 18-20 mph.
Hope this helps

prop size.
I believe the stock prop was 14x 10. Claimed top speed was about 29 MPH not Kts. I believe. I've got an original spec sheet and brochures for most years between 1974 and about 1985 somewhere if I had time to look. I pulled the original Chrysler from mine and replaced with a Commander Marine 351 Ford 265 HP back in 1993. The new engine was LH rotation, the Chrysler RH. I believe I still have the original prop if your interested.

I have a 1975 F26 with a 318 Chrysler (re-powered in 2005) and run a 14 dia x 10 pitch Michigan prop. There is no cup in this prop. I get 4000 RPM from the engine with a clean bottom. My top speed is 18 knots ~ 21 mph. This is a bit less than the manuactuer spec of 25 mph with this power plant. I've added a 6" keel extension and an oversized rudder to improve tracking and low speed manuverability. Top speed is also significantly affected by loading. A full tank of fuel and 4 passengers knocks down the speed.
Good Luck,
