Hi Folks
I have been a boater for over 20 years, but just bought my first Trojan. :P

Anybody else have a mid 80's 13M express?

Seems like lots of good people lurking arounnd here

The boat is being hauled up from FL to NY in 2 weeks.

It was a bank repo.

What can I expect from this beauty????

Once I figure out how to post pics, I will put some up.

Have a great day people!!!![/url]

Congrats on the new boat!
I know we had another forum member that was trying to purchase the same boat. Looks like you won!

I take it you had a survey of the boat and the engines. An engine survey is very important on that type of engine. They use dry sleeves and the fit is critical during a rebuild. When not done properly a rebuild can go wrong very fast.
The 671TI is a great engine when properly maintained. They are very noisy and most smoke alot during startup. Does yours have engine heaters? You will most likely want them.
Have you checked no load and with load WOT? Make sure the boat is not overproped. How bad are the engines leaking oil? The 671's are known for it. How bad did the engine hunt when cold started?
450HP is a lot to ask out of a 671 and is toward the upper limit of what it is capable of. Keep them maintained, do not run them real hard and KEEP THEM COOL. That last one is very important. If you do these things they will last a very long time.
I recommend you join boatdiesel as there is a wealth of info there and is well worth the $25.00 per year.

I've seen that boat for sale for a while. I have the 10 meter and there are several other international series owners here. They all share some common attributes. I consider RWS our resident expert on the international series.

Again, I assume you had a survey done. I believe that the 12 meters and up (May be the 11 meter) had balsa coring in the hull. You want a good hull survey and ensure that all through hulls were properly installed (Cut a larger hole and epoxy back to the size you need. I have no experience with diesels but I love the international series boats. If you ever head up towards Narragansett Bay let me know.

Welcome.

I've actually seen this boat.

Black Jack was originally from Punta Gorda.

Best of luck and congrats!

Thank you for the warm welcome

I still can't believe I have this boat coming up to NY.

It is weird how I connected with this boat.

5 years ago I had to sell my wellcraft coastal 33 w/ twin CATS to finish my house I just built. I did keep my pair of jetskis because I love the ocean so much and definitely always missed my boat.

5 years later, the house is sold, I am single again, and I wanted to get back into boating. I decided on a new leftover 08 jetboat w twin supercharged moters just to "dabble in boating" again. 2 weeks after I bought the jetboat I realized I would never be happy coming from a 33 x 13 boat.

SO I just happen to come across this boat at the right time, the broker was submitting a couple bids to the bank, so just for laughs I put in a bid a bit over asking and what do you know, I got her.

So, I re sold the jetboat (for a profit jajajaja!!!!!!) and I am just waiting for the boat to arrive.

Probably everyone on this forum will think I am crazy, but I did not get a survey done. I have always gotten surveys done on other boats , but I knew I was going to buy the boat anyway.

I purchased this boat for the wide beam and for the enjoyment of spending hours and hours and thousands and thousands to get her to a better than new state.

I know I got a good deal and a great platform to start with.

I know the bottom has to be redone.

I know I have to purchase new 4 blade props.

I have Atlantic towers ready to measure the boat for a custom hard top when it arrives in NJ.

I am sure the detroits will leak oil, I am only looking to get a couple seasons with them until I replace with bigger more efficient diesels.

I did all the work to my CATS, so I have plenty of experience.

I have 2 great danes that will be coming on board so the wide beam was very important to me.

I plan on keeping her for many years so she will be a great project.

As soon as I get her to NY, I will post some updated pics....

oh ya, so from reading all of the above posts, it sounds like you guys know more about the boat than I do.

Can you tell me anything else about the boat.

The broker has been running the boat every couple of weeks with no real issues coming up.

I cant wait until she gets here so I can start pulling her apart!!!

LOL
