F26 Marine Air Conditioner Installed - Nice and cool.

Post by vabeach1234 »

Besides some little stuff left, I've installed a 5000 BTU Marine Air Conditioner on my 1972 F26, all while in the water. I 'T'ed into the intake for the head so I didn't have to get hauled out for a new through hull. I forgot to take some pictures of the plumbing at the intake but it's pretty straight forward. I had to add a check valve between the 'T' and the head so the A/C pump wouldn't suck air. Here are some pictures of what I've done. I still need to move the starting battery so I can have easier access to the strainer and also box around the supply duct in the port locker to so it won't get crushed.

Thanks. Yeah, I'd like to do the Round-Up but the problem is my wife is due Aug. 14th with our second child and I think that may be cutting it close and it's too far of a run for me if I have to get back in a hurry.

I think I have convinced her to let me go to the Blackbeard Festival for one night in Hampton which is the same weekend but that's only a 45 minute trip from my slip which is much more managable.

I hope to go next year, depending on good behavior.

ac install

Post by larryeddington »

As part of my rehab of my f28 i am installing a 16k ac similiar to yours. I got one with a bad compressor and as I once was an HVAC tech changed it out for a new compressor, now works fine. When I purchased my genny the guy tossed in two of the 16k units, I still have one if someone might be interested, it too has a stuck compressor, however they can be changed out.

Your install looked great, gave me some ideas.
