There is one aft on port and stbd side of engine compartment outboard

You will find them all over . Thats how they pulled the parts out of the mold .

aha! Mystery solved! We pulled out our old fuel tanks, and when I was crawling around painting the bilge I saw a rope hanging in about the same spot. We were all a little puzzled! I didn't take it off just in case it was some kind of magic juju stay afloat rope :)

Thanks for the update. I might use them to snake my bilge pump hose through.
Unless anyone else has a better idea for mounting them...?

Great info! I have on in my anchor rode locker and thought it was a piece of leftover rode from the PO.
