Hi Folks
It's been too long since I have updated this thread
I am happy to report that the my Trojan is doing well and I continue to upgrade the vessel and getting her sea worthy
Although there have been some hiccups, the 871s are running strong
Because I went from gears with 2:1 ratio to gears with 1.5 to 1 ratio I had to buy new smaller props
I found a pair of 4 blades off of a 44 Henriquez and gave them to my friend who owns a prop shop to make sure they were balanced properly
I'm still over-propped and he still needs to take some pitch out
Lots of upgrades, pics are coming

Added some tester's hobby paint to the Detroits to make them pop a bit

Garmin discontinued their 8212 series and certain dealers were selling them for real cheap
I picked up 2 and sold my 7212 plotter
Upgrade only cost me $1500
Finally I get a good deal lol

Thanks, Doug - Always great to get an update regarding your boat. Ever since I climbed aboard one three years ago in Toronto, I've been a fan of the model. Really glad that you decided to keep her and refurbish. Thanks again, Rick

After all the crap you had to deal with the crook engine guy, looks like a HAPPY ENDING for the former BLACKJACK of Punta Gorda !

Hi Folks
Just some updates on the Trojan. I continue to push forward with getting the vessel back to working order
The 2018 season was the best yet for me and the boat. The Detroits have over 200 hours now since they were installed and run really good
I spent a lot of time this Summer on Fire Island, docked at Watch Hill, Kismet and Sailor’s Haven/Sunken Forest.

We took the boat off shore for the first time this Summer, it was a beautiful day and an awesome trip
About 40 miles South of Jones Inlet

This was a big upgrade for the boat
9.5 kw Phasor Marine w/ a Kubota engine
It’s a really tight fit between the Detroits, and very difficult to do maintenance on everything with the geni there so I installed it on rails

These are roller blocks that go on the rails

I spent about $9500 for the geni and hush box with freight
$2500 for rails and roller blocks
$500 for hardware and exhaust
Absolutely worth the extra money to be able to move the geni
I am 6’1” and I can sit in the bilge in front of geni for maintenance

I bought the remote panel, it worked out great and is very easy to watch the gauges
