I am so screwed!

Post by yorklyn »

Its 8 pm here. I just tried to get back into my shop to try to save my boat. Water was over 5 ft in front of building and I couldn't get into it with chest waders. They keep changing weather forecast, what their calling for now is going to put my boat into the roof of the building.
Got it tied off earlier today but didn't move it to the higher part of the shop bc I was by myself.

Thanks. I almost feel bad complaining when Florida got over 20 inches of rain. Hope everyone there made out ok.

We're not getting anywhere near the rain that you are. It's just a normal rainy night, in fact. I just spoke to a friend on the north side of Baltimore, and he said it's awful and not letting up any time soon. :(

Kills me to read this with all the work you've done :(

Is it tied off tight or can it float? Worst feeling in the world, hopefully you can get there first thing AM.

First of all I cannot express how much I appreciate the support of everyone on the forum! this day has stressed and overwhelmed me to no end. I know my shop is in a flood plain and floods during storms, thats why I watch the weather and plan accordingly. in 15 yrs and many floods the only two things I've lost was a 50 pack of sanding disk that were left on the floor and Dad when he was trying to save stuff from a potential flood . whenever there has been any chance of potential flooding ,I have made it my "mission" to make sure everything was raised up and safe. ive always thought "if Dad died down here prepping for a flood ,its the least I can do to make sure everything is safe" . Sounds stupid but until today i've done good. normally I'm ready and its not an issue. From the forecast, we shouldn't have had a problem. they changed the forecast in the afternoon . when I left my shop the first time tonight my worst case scenario was a few inches of water inside. after I got home that changed to the possibility of a few feet!
When I told my best friend that I was going to try to go back down to the shop to keep the boat safe he said its not worth putting your life in danger for it. when my wife saw me grabbing my waders and a life jacket , I told her I would be careful but to me it was worth the risk! (did I mention I dont always make the best choices!) promised myself that I wouldnt get into a situation that required help from some else. when I got back there the water had risen about 3 ft and was too deep! my building floods out front first and then eventually the back where my shop is. when I left this time the water was about 1 ft from entering my shop. The water was still rising but it has not been raining much. will have to wait and see.
