Hello All,
For the first time ever, both Yanmar LP engines cranked but failed to start about 3 hours after shutdown.
A quick, thoughtful analysis led to flipping the OVERRIDE switch on the Fireboy system which resulted in the engines operating as normal.
After returning to the home dock the condition was confirmed again.
This refit was done 8 years ago with zero Fireboy issues.
Unfortunately the Fireboy system unit is accessible only by removing the entire 12v/120v main electrical panel.
Any suggestions as to where to start troubleshooting would be appreciated.
THANKS !
RWS

Re: Fireboy Troubleshooting Help Needed
Thanks for that helpful info.
To follow up, the Fireboy MA2-200-FE 241 bottle was found to be in a discharged condition.
This is interesting, since the tiny glass vial that is designed to set the tank off at 175 degrees f is still intact, and the manual override had not been pulled as evidenced by the plastic safety clip being unbroken.
The bottle was installed in 2006 when we did the refit.
Now the question will be to recharge or replace.
On first glance it looks like I will have to send this unit back to Fireboy for a refill?
Anyone have any experience with this?
THANKS !

Re: Fireboy Troubleshooting Help Needed
I had to do this on my previous boat. I bumped the dispersion nozzle and the content slowly leaked out. I detected it when my blower wouldn't work. If I remember correctly, I called the company and arranged for a swap out. they sent the new unit and I had to send the discharged unit within a certain amount of time. It was pretty easy and the new unit had a different switch that I had to wire in. It was 6 or 7 years ago now.

Re: Fireboy Troubleshooting Help Needed
follow up:
The cost of shipping the Fireboy back to the factory and back to me again was far more expensive than simply replacing the leaked unit.
Hazmat shipping $647 from Defender.
Anyhow, just to follow up, the new unit solved the problem.
Thanks to all for the input.
