F28 props

Post by larryeddington »

Does any f28 owner know for sure what props they have for twin 318s, and if so what WOT rpms are you getting.

Can't Bob tell you the original spec? You have been trying to find this out for a long time and it seems we don't have any active F28 owners to help you.

Actually I had called a couple of times, but just now tried again and he is going to find out for me. The reason I asked again was an f28 owner was just on the site and hoped he might know, but did not want to hijack his post.

Thx

Hi guys

Been a long time since i popped in. When we bought our F28 about 5 years ago, we had a problem getting up to top speed, and I think I found then that the original specs was for 14x10's. We had 14x10's with super cup, and that was too much pitch, so we had it taken out completely (as well as cleaning the bottom and learning to use the trim) and we can get about 4000 rpm out of 'er at top speed.

Hope that helps?

Don't shoot me for resurrecting an ancient thread. I have been reading thru the previous threads pretty deep to get all the info I can. The reading has been educational and entertaining. Thanks to all that contribute and pass on there knowledge and experience!

Larry, I was wondering how the 14/9's are doing now that you've probably had them on awhile. Did they get you the performance you were looking for, or did you change them again?

Well sorry I have not had the boat out of the water to swap for the 14/9s. Once I do will change out and post here, not sure when that will be. :D

Oh I see, well if you get to a point and need a hand I am not too far away in Mesquite/Sunnyvale. I think you know the previous owner of my F28, he is TexasTrojanF28 on here.

Hi Lance,

Did you get that "pirate wheel to work" for your boys.

I will probably have the marina do it as they have a hoist and would be very difficult, not impossible, but very difficult to do it in water.

:D

Larry,

I actually bought the boat from him about a month ago but I have to say the wheel is working fine. He mentioned replacing it and told me he had a few parts from your salvage boat. In fact I picked up the exhaust manifolds and risers from him last week.
