1976 Trojan 30' Questions???

Post by los »

I have a 1976 30' Trojan and I pose a couple of questions...

First, what is the model of my boat(I will post a pick)?

Second, I have chrysler 318's and wondering If I am able to put chevy engine in thier place and will they be compatible with my transmissions? If so any good leads were to obtain them?

Thank you very much!!!

To post your image, you need to upload the picture somehwere on the web, and have a url that locates the image. Then enter the url between the img tags Image goes after the url

like this
[img]http://image_url[/img] (except there should be no spaces between the img tags and the url)

here is a sample url from a picture of a 1975 Trojan 30 Flybridge Express Cruiser advertised on boattraderonline.com
http://images.traderonline.com/img/6/de ... 8658_1.jpg

There are a lot of places you can upload the picture, like http://www.webshots.com after you upload, right click the picture and select properties from your browser to display the url. You can copy the url from the properties window.

When you enter the url as shown above, between the tags, (with no spaces) it will display like this below: (use preveiw before you post to confirm you got it right)

Any engine maker such as Mercruiser, Crusader, etc their bell housing should adapt to your velvet drives with no problem.

Trojan 30'

I also own a Trojan F-30 but it is a 1977. I also have twin 318 Chyslers. I have been told by the marina that I can replace those with twin 350 chevy engines. I have not checked on this as so far I am happy with the performance of the 318's.

I just replaced my 318s with 2005 5.7L MPI PCM 350s and had only one problem and that was the engines sit higher than the 318s this would not work with the BW velvet drive trannys due to the rotation problem you know if your engines are right and left hand rotations all new engines are right hand so the trannys got to do the counterrotating so I went with hursh trannys
wow what a differance the new power made going from 318s with 225hp to 350s with 330hp I gained 6.5 knt and went from .6MPG to 1.2 MPG
