Color Sonar With 10" Touch Screen Under $150

Post by jhalb »

I have been using the Navionic's Chart Plotter app for my I Pad for a year. I just bought the Vexilar Sonar Phone Transducer and direct WiFi box that works with the Navionic's app. I took me about 30 minutes to install. The Sonar Phone app is free and the T-Box and transducer is $149. I took pictures of the different screens. The sonar only picture is the demo mode because I haven't left the slip yet.

I put the transducer in my bilge by my fresh water pump. I ran the line through my closet where I mounted the direct
wifi box. I hooked up the power to the old refridgerator 12 volt supply line that was not used.

I have seen those advertised. Wondered how they worked. Using the Navionics you can pull down map data and then run without a data connection right?

Flyboy - do you keep your boat at North Shore?

After you download you map it works just like my car gps. No data connection needed for either app. I can go out at night with no moon and get around fine, that's if the river doesn't have a lot of trash floating down stream. Great addition for my IPad.

Flyboy - Were we building docks together? Saw your boat last weekend. We went with Rich to move his Roamer back home last Saturday. Small world. Will have to look both you guys up next time we are there. Great place at North Shore and the Boat House!

Jhalb - which version of Navionics do you run? Would like to try it in the Android version.

It's the apple app for iPad, USA HD version 7.4.1. I'm sure the Android version is as good. I think the app download cost me around $35. Then the lakes and river map was a free download.
