Insurance for f26

Post by rsciolino »

Time to insure the boat. Who insures without a marine survey done or is there no way around it?

I have my home and personal property policy with State Farm and before I had a "commercial" vessel my boat was insured as a rider on my personal property policy for a fantastic price.

I believe Progressive, Geico, and Boat US will do personal water craft without a survey.

My F26 is insured by Progressive. The policy is an agreed upon value policy, and no survey was required.

Insurance without a survey? Wow! They will insure you without any awareness of the risks? How easy is it to get them to pay up if things go bad?

Most will want a survey unless its just liability . I keep hearing some don't need it but when you call you get a different story . I know coverage seems to vary state to state , so call around .

And let use know what you find .

Do you need to get your car surveyed? Your home? Motorcycle?

Do y'all have mandatory insurance in your states? Rhode Island does not, I find most boaters do not carry any insurance, just curious

Many marinas require you to have insurance . And honestly I prefer it that way . You never know when someone may hit you docking

I'm the same as Dog House. Insured with progressive, Hull and Liability. We set a Hull price and the insurance premium was set based on that.
Our marina also requires each slip holder to have 1 Million Liability for damage to docks and other boats.

Idiots. What about liability for injury to people, or fuel spills? At least the federal liability limit for fuel spills is capped at $844K.
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!

Try Erie Insurance,

I have them for my home, cars, and 2 boats very reasonable rates and quick to pay when you have a claim. They offer "Agreed Value" policy without a survey as well. I have my 1990 10 meter express and a 2002 21' Crown line bow rider insured for agreed value of 35k and 18k replacement and 500k of liability and pay less than $500 a year for all. I have a separate umbrella liability policy with them as well for 2 million which is another 225 a year. With 2 teenage drivers the umbrella brings peace of mind.

I love my boat! It takes all of my money and doesn't bitch.

I once had a swim platform destroyed by a guy like that. Never found out exactly who did it but myself and a couple other boaters in the area paid for his incompetence.
