Are the rubber plugs still available for the old style Groco seacocks?

not sure. however, they have a great tech department. give them a ring and ask. i have one of the original groco valves on the boat and i plan on replacing it this summer with one handle ball valves. here is their contact info..........

You probably have the SV-Serries and here is the link to the parts list...

http://www.groco.net/SVC-MAN-07/Sec4/PDF/SV.pdf

I could not find a resource on-line, however a phone call to Jamestown said that they can special order them... Not sure if that was just BS since I don't think Groco manufactures them anymore. I was considering making my own, but I found some new-old stock at my local ships store and go what I needed.

I shipped them out to you today. I know you said you wanted to reimburse me for the shipping but if its ok with you (and the moderators/beacon marine) I wanted to see if it was ok for you to just make a donation to beacon marine for the $18.64 shipping for the two seacocks. My boat renovation would not have gone nearly as well without the help and support from everyone on this site which is graciously hosted by Beacon Marine. I was thinking you may be able to do it from the "supporter" page where we make donations to support the site each year.
if anyone knows if theres am issue doing this please let me know as i have some other stuff that I was going to do the same thing with.

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here...I have a quick Groco question.

Does anyone know where I can get the small yellow handle for an SV valve? When I first bought the boat, I found this yellow threaded handle and had no clue what it was. I let it sit down in the engine compartment for a year, figuring I would eventually determine what it's proper use was. Turns out I figured it out, but only after I thew it in the garbage. I had assumed when I winterized that the "wing nut" was the shut off for my Groco. What a silly man.

On a side note, because of my assumption, my wing nut has been loose all season. I thought my Groco was going bad because water was seeping through the valve. Thank god for this forum and the internet. I was able to locate the manual and reach the note that said that "Some leaking is normal when the wing nut is loose." I just about jumped for joy when i realized I didn't need to haul out and repair this right away!

i believe the best bet is to either try beacon marine or groco directly. either should have what you are looking for. google groco and see where the HQ and # is. better yet, take a pic and send it to the general customer service or tech support email addy for them.

is it part #5 on the exploded view?

Is there a way to make a "custom" donation in the cart? If not, I can certainly do another $20. No big deal. Anyone?

When I had engines installed the tech took my old groco apart cleaned and lubed them with silicone grease, made them work like new. :D

Just re read this post. Just thought I would mention this in case anyone was not aware. look at the groco parts diagram that bjanakos posted. If you remove the two bolts (#7) and the cover (#6) the entire rubber assembly slides right out. the only thing that keeps this seacock from dripping is the pressure thats applied to the plug form turning the wingnut (#1) which pushes on the disk (#3)
if you have one that is dripping dissemble it, cleans any crud and buildup from the rubber plug. look inside the body where the plug goes, if there is any build up from old silicone or corrosion carefully clean it with a scotchbrite pad. if its really bad you could probably use some very fine sandpaper (600 grit or higher) but i would try to just stick with something that wont scratch the metal.
inspect the round disk. ive heard of them becoming bent from too much pressure being applied. i have seen people simply flip them around with the dented side out and they worked.
coat the inside with silicone grease and put it back together. just remember that you need to loosen the wing nut to open and close the valve (it will leak when you do this) then tighten the wing nut back up which should stop the leak.
