I have shafts that are 1 3/8, so I know I need 5/16 packing. How much material or length will I need to repack both boxes?

Quick question: It appears that my stuffing box hose has what is referred to as iron clamps. Each hose has one big iron clamp on each end. Is this how Trojan did it or has it been changed over the years. I'm assuming they are not double clamped because of the size of these iron clamps. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I use 4 T-bolt clamps, all stainless. Buck Algonquin has specialty hose. http://www.go2marine.com/product/52033F ... hoses.html

Iron fittings on a boat scare me .....
I needed a less expensive hobby, so I bought a boat!
