Teak wood deck replacement?

Post by ryankla »

I have a 1969 36' Trojan Tri Cabin. The sub-deck under the teak of the forward and aft deck is rotten in a few areas. I am looking to have it replaced including the teak or to replace the sub-deck and have it glassed over. Any recommendations? How much would a job like this cost?

I can't help with a cost or who, but I've been working on my aft deck that was completely rotten. After rebuilding the frame or sill, I covered 3/4 plywood with resin, glued and screwed it in place and put 3 layers of glass on top. Teak would make a nice floor but I'm planning to use marine vinyl

It was a big job...I don't recommend it

Hi Barrie,

Are you planning to put drains and scuppers in or does the deck drain a different way? I have no experience with a Tri Cabin, so not sure what I don't know.

Sorry ryankla, didn't mean to hijack this thing

I did reopen the 3 factory deck drains and inserted pcv tube as a liner, kind of bedding them in. You can just make out one opening in this picture.
I added hatches so I could lift engines and stuff in and out
I have yet to add the bilge vents and shore power and water
