watching Todds project and seeing all this makes me feel fortunate I have the hollow stringer/vacuum liner International.
And all by sheer luck, as I had NO IDEA going into this of the DIFFERENCES !

Any idea why they wouldn't employe the same technology for the mid cabins?
I sure wish I had that setup!

Nice, you're making great time on this project. Trying to stay ahead of any issues like this, I extended the HW heater vent hose so that it now runs into the lower bilge. From the factory, there is only a short tube that runs straight down. My relief valve tripped a few years ago and not all of the water made it out of that area, there was still some water trapped behind the stringer.
I cut away the lip so that the limber hole is flush and water can get out now. That would come into play if the tank itself started to leak.

Today i spent my time completing the motor paint job and installing the transmissions to the motors. I inadvertently attached the PORT flywheel to the STARBOARD motor. I felt pretty stupid doing that, but then i assumed that they must be exactly the same part. After phoning a friend, i decided to pull the tranny off the one motor and swap the plate to the correct one.
Well, i should have phoned another friend or consulted the internet...the parts are the same! At least for this motor. Now its 1 AM and both trannys are installed and the motors are good to go. Let this be a lesson...Trust, but verify! My back is killing me from horsing those transmissions around a couple extra times!

I still need to take care of the rest of the limber holes. The problem has been all this darn rain. I need a few days for it to really dry out.
What did you use to seal them up? I think you told me, but i cant remember now. Thickened west system? Duraglass? Whats the best choice?

You know that if you didn't check, they would have been different
On the limber holes, I've been using West penetrating epoxy to seal the edges once I get them cleaned up real well with acetone (more of an issue in the engine room because of where they are located). Then, I use West Six 10 to create a trough so that the water funnels through the hole easily and most importantly, fill that void between the bottom of the stringer and the hull. That way water can't get in underneath. Of course you want this to be as dry as possible or you trap water "in" at the same time.

Perfect...thanks Bob. I'm going to snag some of that West Six 10. Looks super easy to use. The trick now is letting these things dry out.BobCT wrote:You know that if you didn't check, they would have been different

Re: 10 Meter Mid Cabin "Refresh" ***Title Change***
Big progress this weekend.
Gas tank is back in.
All limber holes are painstakingly filled and sealed.
Fresh coat of paint in the starboard bay of the bilge.
Inverter 8d batteries installed in my new dual 8d battery box.
Aft cabin limber hole drilled out and filled.
Two beautiful dual 4" intake vents are prepped and sitting in the garage covered in west system, just waiting for me to get back to install them.
Hopefully the motors will be back in next weekend. If all goes according to plan...

Here's a few pics of the splash. My hauler was out of town this weekend and my patience was limited. I had a friend who after a few hours of searching was able to "borrow" a hydraulic trailer. Needless to say, the process was a little hair raising. I have a TON of respect for those who do this work after trying to do it myself!
I was a litter nervous to start her up right away, so the Mrs. and I paddled over to the dock. It's surprisingly easy to paddle a 10 meter!
Had a few hiccups with the blocks drain being stripped, but once i fixed that we got her out on open water. She ran like a champ!
