Anyone out there have any experience with the Trojan 14 meter? Am buying an 88 model and I wanted to know if anyone knew of trouble areas to look for. Boat has 8V-92 DDECs' and seems in good shape. Thanks for any imput.

I can't offer any advice, other than to say, they are super cool, and I wish I had one!

Make sure you have a good survey. 14M's are built solid and Trojan did a wonderful job glassing the balsa-core. But... look for any owner-drilled holes, make sure the A/C units work and the Sub-Zero's do their thing, put a full load on the generator, take it out for cruise and make sure those 8-92's are okay!

I looked at a 14M in Miami this spring. I had a checklist of all the options of that particular boat plus its original sea-trial for comparison. Everything was okay until the sea-trial. Both mains didn't turn the rpms and there was enough smoke for me to say "no" on the deal. Actually, if that 14M was on the Chesapeake I probably would have bought her and yanked the intercoolers in hopes they were just dirty. If you don't have a really good feeling on the engines then there's a lot to be said about getting an engine survey. It's a heck of a thing to shell out $120k+++ and then another $50-80K on rebuilds to have a $140k boat.

But, IMO, a 14M gives you everything: the performance, visibility, and space all rolled into one boat.
