I'm driving along one day and noticed my port tach was well above my normal running reading. I pulled back and noticed the boat was not running right, or sounded right. I usually synch by ear, and throttled back up until it sounded right, despite the tach reading. Also, my throttles were relatively even which is also a normal condition. So I continued on.....
To validate once I got back to the dock, I switched the sender wires on the tachs and sure enough, the problem stayed with the port side tach. So I figure I will change them both, but I am looking for suggestions on suitable replacements. Perhaps something that has a multi-function to add some more data to the bridge.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Bad Tachometer - Need replacement.
If you haven't already, before swapping them out try the Cylinder adjustment on the back of it (if you have one)... There is usually a little dial where you can set the tack for 4cyl, 6cyl, or 8 cyl so it can be used with different engine types. Sometimes corrosion causes it to read a bit funky, so turning this dial back and forth a few times and setting it back to 8cyl cleans off internal contacts a bit and helps it read correctly.

I just may give that a try first. Thanks.
