Steering Parts???...Ball Joints

Post by mike0469 »

Greetings all...

I have a 1976 Tri-Cabin. While investigating some of the slop in my steering, I discovered lots of slack in the ball joints on the connecting pipe and steering rod. After removing the kotter pin and retaining nut from the ball joint assembly, I found several broken and worn retaining ball sockets. This is a 1" round socket approximately 1/2" thick which is milled to accept the ball. Does anyone have a supplier for these retainers? Thanks.

I can't load my pics of the retainer inside of the tie rod socket. there are 2 half-moon shaped sockets on each side of the ball socket. they are 1" diameter x 1/2" long w/a milled slope to accommodate the ball when inserted.
