Whats your boats range and your range

We have a lot of different Trojans and owners just wonder how far you can or will go . I did this a while back but things change .

I really like my F26, but 60 gallons doesn't get me very far. I usually cruise for about 50 miles, refuel, and then cruise another 50 miles to get to my destination.

With 220 gallons and figuring 1 MPG, I count on 100 miles between stops. That leaves at least 100 miles in the tank, same as when I'm flying on the east coast (VFR at least).

As for range, I figure that I'm taking the house with me, so instead of renting beach house for $2K/week like we did for so many years, we spend somewhat less on fuel and slips and see the water from the waterfront. Have done Baltimore to Stone Harbor before, and that is about 130 sea miles. Seriously considering Delmarva loop this summer, kids permitting, and that pushes 500 sea miles.

What speeds are you getting 1 MPG ? Not bad if I may add .

the following are in KNOTS and NAUTICAL MILES not statute miles

depending on conditions, 1.3 - 1.5 NM/gallon on plane at 18-21 kts

242 gallon fuel tank + 17 gallon genny/reserve tank

assuming 1.4 NM avg in theory I could run 362 NM to bone dry with no genny

in reality running the genny on the aux tank, a one way trip using just the main tank with 25% for safety would allow for 254 NM range

That said, a DAY TRIP - using the 1/3 travel, 1/3 return and 1/3 reserve fuel rule on the main tank would allow for 111 NM miles out, 111 NM back and would leave 80 gallons still in the tank when we return.

If I reported the fuel burn at displacement speeds, you wouldn't believe me.

My last trip was in July. Down the Potomac, south in the bay and up the Rappahannock and back for a week. 175 NM. Filled up before I left then topped off again before heading back. Fun trip. Done plenty of 120 NM for a weekend trip over the years...

I selected 40 mile cruise, as that is our normal max on an average weekend, though we often only go a few miles because we have a slip in the area we like to cruise in (Rhode River). That said, we are planning a week long trip this summer and without an itinerary, it will be interesting to see where we end up.

We currently have 250 gallons of fuel tankage, though the extra 55's are still on the boat but not connected. I may pressure test them and if they pass, hook them back up at a later date when we start long distance cruising. For now, I don't want to have too much fuel onboard that is not getting used.

Wow, you did really well. Our dock neighbors have a '80 F32 and went from CB to D.C. to see the Nationals play. They burned around $600 of fuel for that short jaunt.
