I for one, think that a contribution of 20.00 per year by supporting members would help with the elimination of ads and help the board offset costs. Remember, we are an orphaned brand... and help, ideas from the knowledge on this board is priceless.

Keep in mind, that this idea would be completely voluntary and if you don't want or can't contribute, don't. But my feeling is that Don and Bob have given us a meeting place where we can exchange ideas and help each other out. Where else can we go to get this?

If anyone is interested, I'll start a thread on the subject.

Just my .02 cents... :)

Sounds like a reasonable idea. I don't really mind the ads and have followed several links. I don't have a problem giving some money either.

Glad someone else brought this up. I've been contemplating saying something for a while but didn't want to rock the boat, just did that in "Pontifications" and HOLY COW, I haven't ,slept for days!! I would really like to "Support our sponsors", but have you guys done any research on some of the companies?? I'd be afraid to click on the links!! What gives with that? If I don't get the warm and fuzzies about it, I won't go there. I'd like to support, but there's no way I'm clicking on some of those links. IMO, we'd be better off having sponsors that manufacture marine gear, it'd be in thier best interest to advertise here yes? IMO.

I guess my POP-UP blocker is really working? I also agree with Big D, why can't they get some marine sales sponsors?

How about a virtual mushroom anchor (or beter yet a virtual trojan flag) to be proudly displayed on you profile when you pay your $20 .

I am willing to put up with the adds or pay membership. The info I get here is priceless (well almost) and I feel like I have a whole bunch of new friends.......we all share a somewhat rare common interest.....not just boats but TROJANS!!.............my 2 cents........John

I love some of the adds that pop up I wonder if the sponsors even know what
is popping up on there site . I don't know what the site costs but up here in canada a forum site is about $10 with unlimited bandwidth. With the amount of people on here a couple of dollars donation should be enough . When you see advertising for "sexy russian women who are attracted to western men" on a site when you are looking for boat products or information. It makes you question the security or the legitimacy of the site. I think that it would be in the sponsors best intrest to rethink there adds or how the site is supported. Thats just my opinion ,
