F-54MY

Post by Bob Korts »

Looking at a 1977 F-54MY that is for sale in my area. Does anyone have any information about this model. It has 903 Cummings with V drives. 9 KW generator that seems small. Someone mentioned that they thought the F-54s were built in Canada. Any info would be appreciated. The hull # TRJ070060577-540

The 54s are beautiful boats - I love the lines and extended flybridge.

Generally these days you would be looking for multiple generators for something that size, especially if it has air conditioning or multiple air units. But having said that -- if it is pretty much original in terms of lighting, fridge, water heater, maybe some basic AC, then the 9KW may be fine. But if someone has 'updated' it and converted it to more of a live aboard - adding bigger or extra fridge, freezer, ice maker, multiple AC units, tons of new lighting, microwaves, multiple TVs and stereo systems, electric-everything... then the single 9KW could be easily overwhelmed.

If you contact Beacon Marine http://www.trojanboats.net/default.html and give them the hull number they can get you more specific details about the boat and what it had as original equipment (you can order a set of manuals even) so you can get a gauge of what previous owners may have changed over time.

I for one would love to see a photo of that boat.

Cheers

Given location, could be this one http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1977/Tr ... hOUYXZrzcs

Believe I have seen some (or maybe it's the 44 or 47?) where the flybridge fairing runs the full length of the upper level and wraps completely around the aft end.

I believe I saw one along the intracoastal just a mile or so south of Stuart Florida . It was probably ten years ago and it looked so good in the water. Exceptionally designed from a visual perspective which is probably why they seem timeless.
