A wise mechanic told me: "If you think you have a carburetor problem, check the ignition system. Once you have completely checked the ignition and are sure it is the carburetor, check the ignition again."

That said, it is good that you found the air screw turned all the way in. No way that could help the situation.

The ignition system seems to have become a popular issue with a few people trying to help me trouble shoot this issue. I have old distributors and a few have suggested I get complete new electronic system with new distributors. I have looked online but not sure which one I would need ? It looks a bit pricey but I would like to use my boat.

Just a thought about your gas tanks. Are they original galvanized metal or have they been updated to plastic, FG or aluminum. My 77 F26 had fuel issues that sound a lot like yours, but I'm only running one engine, the Chrysler 318 with Rochester 4bbl carb. Turns out the original galvanized tank (70 gal) was rusting on the inside and that was causing fuel blockage. Replaced with 50 gal plastic tank in 2001 and have not had issues since. I also use non-ethanol gas available at nearby Marina. Just don't trust E-10 to be lying around in my tank during winter storage here in upstate NY. Hope you get this figured out.

Try changing out the distributor to Pertronix. Mine was Chrysler electronic. It would run great leaving the dock and at high RPMs anything above 900 RPM. Coming back to port it would stall in the middle of a busy channel. The problem was the distributor its self. I had changed out everything else. Fixed.

Update.

Still battling this issue. I have eliminated fuel as he issue. I ran the boat of some brand new outboard tanks with fresh gas and got the same result. ( getting pretty good docking this thing on one engine )

I have had 2 different mechanic come out, one says its the carbs, the other says its the distributors. Both of which are what 30 plus years old. I am almost considering purchasing 2 brand new carbs and to electronic ignition kits with the new distributors. i mean what else could it be.

Try switching parts from port to starboard.

Also do a voltage drop down test. Do it cold then when its warmed up, both engines and record your data
