Shut off valves

Post by Captrichc »

So i sent all 4 of my groco fittings to Bob. They were absolutely disgusting. All locked up. A definite hazard.
Here are before and after pictures of their amazing work.

Definity everyone should check to make sure all of their shut off valves are working properly.

Nice job, I like that those valves can be rebuilt and put into proper use again.

They look great

I took mine apart 4 years ago

I coated the inside with never-sieze and they are still smooth and easy to turn

when I bought my boat, 18 years ago, the surveyor found the same problem.

after delivery in Miami, and a couple of weekends of maintenance in Boca Raton, we ran her to Florida's west coast where she was promptly hauled out and I spent my vacation doing all the necessary rehab of essential items as per the survey.

Every seacock was frozen shut from 20 years of not being exercised, and had to be replaced.

For the last 18 years I open and close them every time she comes off the lift.

Additionally, adding the freshwater flushing system has reduced the corrosion factor and the two engine seacocks now have grease fittings :)

Did you add the grease fittings yourself?

October before last, Bob had a rebuilt set which he sent me and I sent him mine which I removed. Turned out great and now I can get many more years out of them.
