Looking to buy a 1988 8.6 meter

Post by underdog89123@ »

I can only find very little infromation on the 8.6. Are they good boats?
Are they solid core fiberglass like the 10 meter?
I hear Trojans are built like tanks. Does that hold true for the 8.6?Image[/img]
Any help or advice is aprecated.

I have heard that propped correctly, the I/O setup with the 454's will absolutely FLY.

No facts to base this on but , I suspect it would be faster then that .

Saw a listing that said "Cruising Speed: 25 mph Maximum Speed: 38 mph " or about 22 knots cruise 33 knots WOT . Cruise speed is relative on how hard you want to run them . I know some folks that like to cruse gas engines at 2800 others 34-3500 , myself 3000 . So give the same boat we would all have a different cruse speed . Remember boat listings have some facts and some fiction :?

Yes. My best friend did it for a living for 10 years and he went with me yesterday. When we got there the batteries were dead dead dead and it wouldn't do anything so I went and purchased two batteries just to see how everything was doing and everything turned on engines both turned over blue fuel down the carburetor that popped off tanks are empty all the lights work except for the spotlight there's a few switches that need to be replaced we'll clean up for a little bit of mold since been sitting for the last 2 years trim tabs work outdrive goes up and down needs water pumps on the engines and new zinks but all in all everything looks good especially for how old it is insides very decent shape except for the little bit of mold that has formed from sitting he told me if I didn't buy it for two thousand he told me I was stupid. he spent 2 hours just checking hull. I'm extremely happy about buying it.

Congratulations Underdog!

Nothing like a happy boat buy. Won't be sorry about buying one of these old hulls. There's a good reason they're still around.

Best advise we can give, don’t own a Trojan without actively participating on this board. It is worth its weight in gold.

Congrats on the purchase!
