89 md cabin ignition switch warning tone

starboard side ignition switch tone comes on after slight pause then is constant until engine stars then goes off
port side, slight pause then beeps on and off (not constant) then off when engine starts

anyone know why the difference?

I am thinking it so you can tell if its the starboard or the port engine when the alarm goes off . I did some wiring on repower on a sail boat and the alarm had both tones also . I hooked it up so you could tell low oil press from a over heat . Of course the alarm goes off on key up do to no oil pressure .
