Trojan Information

Post by mikejones »

Hello, Can someone please help me figure out what boat this is. is this a F-25? I do not see any information on a Trojan 255 online. the owner says its early 80's.

Any information on this boat would be awesome, its for sale 15 min away from me. I viewed it, I like it and would like to buy it. so any information would be GREAT.

Looks to me like Trojan hull but custom superstructure. Helm, cabin door, superstructure shape definitely not typical of Trojan construction. Seeing interior would help confirm if there are any Trojan elements in it.
Also first picture that shows a bit of side deck shows wood (looks rotted too?). If that's what I am seeing, not sure about early 80's. Decks were teak over plywood until mid 70's, but fiberglass from 76 or 77 on (definitely by 79). Only way side deck would show wood if it was wood in the first place, or all glass has been stripped off of coring.
Trojan helmet emblem on the hull side matches 79 to early 80s vintage, but lettering of word TROJAN is not legit.
So... think this is something different than what seller is telling you it is. Likely NOT a Trojan 255 (other than hull).

Having said that, I thought a boat I knew a few years back was a 36 tri cab hull with custom superstructure, but turned out to be the 36D model that only had a half dozen made... so who knows... Maybe Beacon Bob can shed some light, and maybe this is a one-off experiment.

Per Bob and John (worked for Trojan) the hull looks to be a F25 Sea Raider 210 , early 70s . Top side is custom for sure . There never was a model 255 . You had the Sea Raider 210 , and the F25 express 251 , 252 and 253 .

captainmaniac Good eye !

Post or PM the hull ID # to me when you get it .

hi. I didn't get back to get the hull ID # its only 3 blocks away but its sitting on the water. I was on it briefly and all the fiberglass is good. the wires were done a few years ago but I want to change all the wires anyway. possibly to a better panel. I'm a 15 year carpenter and can rebuild the back deck and inside cab over the winter.

the trim tabs they said were newer. down below the back deck looked fine. I know it floats its on the water.
the people bought the trailer/boat and kept trailer and put the boat out on the water till they could sell it. they said the bottom looked fine.

Thanks
Big Mike

While both boats are 25' Trojans the hulls are not the same . The one you are looking at is a Sea raider model 210 early 70s . You can see the Number on the ID plate you posted .The only number I can read . The other is a F25 Express model 251, 252 or a 253 .

It is a very cool looking boat . Someone put a lot of custom work into it .

thanks for helping me figure that out. I'm going for a second look soon, what should be my main concern be and would there be a reason someone decided to sell this and not fix it? I just need to know if its safe.

Time and money , it looks to need a good amount of both . Safe ? Can't really judge that on line
