1988 10M Mid Cabin Propeller Size

Post by Scott67 »

Good morning all!
This may be a Bob question but, I'm looking for the actual factory installed propeller size for the subject vessel running 454 (350hp) engines. Not sure about the gears either, but looks like the literature supports this vessel as having 2.0:1 gears, no nameplate data on the gears located.

I've attached the size and numbers that are currently installed, they are three bladed. I have to change the propellers as galvanic corrosion has gotten the best of them. Looking for anyone with the same boat (model) that has done any changes in the size/pitch/blade count of their propeller and what your feedback is. Not looking for performance numbers, not looking to "go fast", just curious of general comments about the change and some of the reasons that led you to changing your propellers. Some folks have gone to 4 bladed, but haven't really heard why.

Thanks in advance for any information provided.

Scott

Pretty sure the mid-cabin is 1.5 to 1 gears.

From what I read, the only mid cabin with 1.5:1 is the 340 model. The manual could be wrong though, or I could be misreading it.

I have the same year mid cabin and it came with 1:52:1 VD transmissions. I have a video on YouTube when I first swapped the factory 3 blades over to 4 blades. The four blades are a little smoother AND I wanted an extra set on board so it was an easy decision.

I’ve since repowered but have years of reference videos at speed if you need any data.

Forgot, model 340 is the correct designation for a mid cabin. That’s not widely known, the important thing you need to know is 10m Mid Cabin vs 10m Express (totally different model in several areas but same hull).

Bob, many thanks! I would like to take you up on the information offer. Been looking for some comps for a while. You are correct and after “re-reading” my own owner’s manual, I do have the 10 meter 340 mid-cabin express. Boy I tell ya, Trojan could have done a different scheme with their hull models…talk about confusing some of us!
I’n any case, would be interested in reading more about your 4 blade props I.e. size, pitch, make etc…

Thanks in advance!

You are correct sir! I was the one with the comprehension issue. Never was good at that.
All said, I appreciate the info. Looks like Bob may have the details I’m looking for.
