Oil

Post by larglo »

Hi all,

Anyone know where I can buy an Oil extractor that has the stiff tube, that goes down the dip stick tube to extract the oil?

Thanks,

Larry

My engine has a rubber hose connected under the oil pan where the drain plug used to be my oil drains that way.

Larglo, buy the type with the pump that is powered by a drill as they tend to work better than the vacuum tank/pump variety.

Larry,

Does your dip stick tube have a threaded lug on it just below the top of it? If so, this tube extends to the bottom of your pan already. If you have a set up like this and choose to insert a plactic tube into it, quite often what will happen is air will travel down the dip stick tube and cavitate the oil at the end of the plastic tube as the oil level drops. This will make it appear as though you have got all of the oil out when in fact you still have a quart or so in there. :? To avoid this problem be sure to seal the plastic tube into the dip stick tube with electrical or duct tape.

 Another method is to thread a short hose directly on to the threaded lug and use a drill powered static pump like Foofer mentioned to draw the oil out. Be sure the oil is warm before you start, this way it draws easier.

Hope this helps :)

After trying and being dissapointed by the commercial pumps for this purpose, I bought a small 12 V "flojet" ag pump at the local tractor supply for $32. (yes, its explosion proof, sealed switch and all). I stepped over an isle and go some 3/16 poly line and some theaded npt fittings with hose barbs. This and couple of empty milk jugs and you have a portable changing system.

Rodman you need to rid of the automotove fuel lines and the b-2 fuel line and replace them with A-1 marine rated hose ASAP
