Update of Black Jack 13M, pictures from Survey

Post by DOUGNASH »

Here are the pictures from the survey.

The boat leaves on Thursday morning for South Amboy New Jersey.

There is a minor repair list, but the estimate of FMV for Black Jack came back well above what I paid.

I will keep you posted...

I am currently looking at a 13m as well, did the surveyor say anything about
the hull possibly being cored? There as been some discussion on this form about 13meters having cored hulls but I never saw a defiant answer.

No Worries, here how it looks so far...

$66,500 Purchase Price
$ 1,000 Survey
$ 3,000 Haul, block, prep, remove radar arch, fix trim tab & diesel leak
$ 8,500 Coletta Trucking to New Jersey from Florida
-----------
$79,000 so far, LOL

Once in NJ, needs to get hauled and blocked again, the biggest problem the surveyor found was the stbrd shaft is out of alignment that he visually observed during sea trial. The boat is going to Lockwood Boat Works in NJ which is suppose to have a prop/shaft alignment specialist on staff, LOL. All I know is the labor is $100/hr there, so hopefully it is an easy fix.

While in New Jersey, Atlantic Towers will be measuring her for a 150sq ft hard top, which will be installed later.

Then I can bring to home port of Freeport Long Island. Once there, boat gets hauled again for bottom redone, the 4 blade wheels need to go out for tuning, new zincs, underwater lighting, and new thru hulls for my new electronics package. That is the list so far...

More updates and pictures t/f!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He didnt say anything about the hull being cored, but there is some "pea sized" blistering on the bottom.

I know I will have to address it at some point...

There are so many things that can go wrong, I really dont have the time, it is definitely not going to save me a bunch of money, the boat has too many small issues that I know about as well as probably a handful more that have not been discovered yet, for me to even think about having the boat take a journey like that.

The boat has pretty much been sitting for a while, so who knows whats around the corner.

The trip from NJ to Long Island is a lot easier...

If it was a newer and faster boat and I had a week to kill, I would do it without question...
