Heat exchanger gasket and end cap

Post by 9rock »

I have a f30 t360s

The heat exchanger had a drip so I tighten it to no avail ,, I replaced the gasket and it was still dripping ,tighten it more and it dripped more,,

I am thinking I slightly bent the cap,, can a thicker gasket be used or does the cap need to be replaced witch I am thinking its hard to find

might consider the following Ebay postings:

Item number 290336884565

(I had an exchanger cleaned and resoldered a few years ago at a local radiator shop. You might look into that option.)

just noticed you are in MD. There is a good repair shop in Glen Burnie. Check with Durms Generator and Carburetor at (410) 781-0056 for the location of the radiator shop further up B&A Blvd (would supply it, but don't remember the name or exact location of the radiator shop that repaired my heat exchanger).

I recommend Durms, by the way for starter rebuilding.

I bought new end cap and gasket kits from Lighthouse Marine- I don't think I paid as much as the eBay listings are asking. I also bought new gaskets (listed as Sendure, I believe) for about $2.50 a gasket. The Sendure gaskets are very thick.

Think Sendure makes systems for a number of engine systems. The repair shop I described earlier fabricated an end cap and gasket for my Chris Craft exchanger, but it might be worth an attempt at fabricating a gasket yourself -- can get the thick rubber gasket material at an auto parts store such as NAPA.
