Got a new question for you folks.
Last week after changing my oil I crank up the engine for 5 minutes and it runs great.
Came back out the next day again crank up the engine for 20 minutes and again it runs great.
This weekend I go out to try to start and and it spits, sputters but will not start. I finally gave in and gave it a light shot of starter fluid and it start with the throttle all the way open but it never really gets up to a proper RPM and it noticably heavy on thin black smoke.
Oil pressure and oil level is good so I don't think it is related to the oil change. I just seems like the carburator is way out of whack.
I cannot remember what color gas burns at. Blue or Black.
Any ideas?

++1 on choke, if it's ok then I'd check the float to see if they're sticking and dumping raw gas, if it is shut the gas off run it til the gas is gone and pore some Seafoam cleaner down the overflow tube and let it sit for a while. I've done it before and you've got a 50% chance it'll work...

Also fuel pump diaphram could leak and fuel flow through its emergency drain line to carby causing flooding. (not sure of the exact terminology of this hose but is to prevent fuel in bilge when pump fail, if equpped)
+++ on the engine must be over rich and or flooding for some fuel related reason.
