f-36 crane

i figured if anyone would know it would be someone on here.
i have an f36 with a 12' cc nautica tender it weighs about 750 pnds.
we have not been able to use it yet,but looking for a way to store it on the boat if poss.
i really dont want to tow it everywhere.
with that being said i can get a crane very cheap the guy dont use it, dont like it, and wants it gone
with me helping taking it apart he is almost giving it to me. ALMOST
im just wondering about the bow weight with crane,tender,chocks,cover,and what ever else i can cram in the tender
and looks,is it to much up there on a f36 deck
i bought a new achilles and 4 stroke motor but its kinda like a skate board and they dont want to get near it
so now i have 2 dinghys and cant use ether one of them

I've had problems with my F36 being bow heavy already. A P.O. removed the aft fuel tanks,so when ever it would rain, about a 1/2 inch of water would sit forward on the bow. Over time, that is a death wish for the balsa cored deck so I had to do something. My solution was to remove water tanks from under the galley area and move them aft where the fuel tanks had been. I purchased flexible Vetus tanks (first ones failed but Vetus replaced them at NC) and then replace the small 10gal head holding tank that was in the bow to a 55 gal tank under the galley. With the water tanks full, and the head tank empty, the water sheds off again. I would think a crane and a boat on the bow would be a little heavy unless you counter weighted that 1000+ lbs with weight at the stearn somehow.

Have you thought about stearn davits?

I carry a 9 - 9.5 ft rib on my bow (140 lbs) . That's about as big as I would go . I use a small crane I put the engine first and keep it on the stern deck . To have a crane That would lift 600 lbs you will need to have the crane post go throught the deck and run into the boat . Not easy to hide

I agree on watching the weight on the bow . IF you have stern tanks use them last

the guy with the crane mentioned something about all that weight up there too
sounds like its to much for the bow
i still dont know what to do
but have plenty of time to figure it out

In a previous topic the swim platform was lengthened. Maybe consider having this done with a cradle and winch system on the platform.

Beacon did have pulpit rail accessory for our boats. I got one from them. Don't know if they still have them. They make a pulpit installation look complete. IMO

I looked at a Trojan F-36 last year and was about to buy it, the deal fell through, but it had a davit on the bow, which I had planned to remove. As Paul "Prowlerfish" mentioned, the davit base should run through the deck down a structural point on the hull. The deck pretty much prevents lateral movement, but the weight held by the hull.

Also, as Paul mentioned, it is difficult at best to make the penetration and vertical post look decent. on this boat, they did an incredibly horrible job with the entire installation, except they did epoxy the core where the post passed through the deck.

You can also see this boat was a complete redo... which I had just pretty much done on our previous F-32.... glad things worked out the way they did.

i dont know what to do.i was looking at the swim platform yesterday.
the smaller tender would be as much as i would want to deal with back there and
the nautica tender is so wide with out extending the platform i dont think it would go there
i thought the crane was the way to go but since the weight is so much im not sure.
not even sure if i have 12' or more of bow space to chock up a tender and have crane
i have not measured it

this is not the crane that folds dwn nice and low
but is an electric crane that just sits in the air like in the previous pic

8 lug, IMHO, it think the crane or davit like the one in the photos I posted above, look like crap and an afterthought. I have an 11' Apex Rib and an 8 hp Nissan ob, I take the out board off and am able to flip the Apex up on the swim step. I can flip this up myself. I made a make shift bridle out of line that I tie to the swim step and when I flip the dingy up, I tie the stern and bow lines to cleats and the two bridle line that run behind the dingy to a hand rail. The only issue is our boat is documented and it covers the name and hailing port of the boat. I have used this method on this and the two previous boats and have yet to be cited by the Coast Guard or Harbor Police. I did finally fabricate a removable Davit system for my trawler that worked well for that particular boat.
This works for me and for the way we boat, I keep the Apex on a dingy rack at our marina and keep it covered when I don't have it in the water or on the boat.

its actually a 9.6' achilles with mohagony transom and seat
pretty heavy to lift dead out of the water
